About The Clown School Company
In 2024, The Clown School, the renowned LA based organization devoted to exploring and promoting the practice of clowning, announced the formation of The Clown School Company, a professional performing arm of the School, offering inventive contemporary theater informed by physical theater and clown practices. The Company’s first production, A Kind of Electra, based on the Greek tragedy by Euripides, was a smash hit at the Edmonton Fringe Festival in Canada in August 2025.
Meet the Founding & Artistic Director
David Bridel is the Founding and Artistic Director of The Clown School and The Clown School Company.
He has worked as a director, playwright, choreographer, and teacher of clown, physical theater and acting in many venues and many countries for many years.

Tiffany Elle
On screen, she’s been in Better Things, The High Note, and lots of commercials. On stage, you can find her in Los Angeles’s cutest bouffon troupe, iL Fungo. @skunksandcats
Hayden Ezzy
Hayden is a Los Angeles-based performer with over 10 years of professional experience. He studied theater at the California Institute of the Arts and has worked professionally as an actor and voice-over artist, including on the animated series Adventure Time. Hayden is also a stand-up comedian in the LA comedy scene.
Sarah Painter
Sarah has been working on and off in the theater for the last 25 years in both New York and Los Angeles as performer, producer, writer and director. Most recently she performed with Living Room Shakespeare as Lady Macbeth (Macbeth). She received a BFA in Acting at University of Maryland Baltimore County, MSW at University of Southern California.
Jesse Pilkes
Jesse’s childhood in NYC and Holland and her early exposure to Cirque du Soleil were formative to her creative journey and love for wonder and whimsy. Jesse graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she studied directing and went on to earn a best director award from the Director’s Guild of America for her vintage circus themed film. In addition to art directing and costuming, Jesse is currently devising, directing and choreographing clown foolery.
Arrow Schulman
Arrow is an actor, director and clown based in Los Angeles. Associate director for previous productions with The Clown School Company, including Harriet, Alone and A Kind of Electra. Arrow is also the founder and artistic director of Living Room Shakespeare, which creates intimate productions of classical works in non traditional spaces. Recent credits include Macbeth (Living Room Shakespeare) and Brutus in Julius Caesar (Revelry Theatre Group). They received a BA in Theater from Northwestern University and have also trained with The Clown School and Dell’Arte International.
Caitlyn Stasey
Caitlin is an Australian actress originally from Melbourne, known for her roles in the historical drama Reign, the critically acclaimed series Please Like Me, the Prime Video comedy Class of ’07, and the horror film Smile. Since 2022, she has been attending various classes and intensives at The Clown School.
